StatBroadcast and MAAC create pilot program to place real-time statistics on the bench for basketball coaches for 2019-2020 season

EDISON, NJ --

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and StatBroadcast have launched a pilot program to put devices with real-time statistics feeds from the game on the bench for coaches at men's and women's basketball this season. This will mark the first time this as been done during an NCAA event.

The MAAC, along with several other Division-I conferences, received permission earlier this year from the NCAA to experiment with putting electronic statistics readouts on the bench for coaching staffs this year and will become the first conference to implement it in the NCAA with the help of StatBroadcast's technology.

StatBroadcast was selected to provide the platform to execute and enable this technology for the conference due to its extensive experience providing real-time statistics technology to NCAA member institutions and national championship tournaments for more than a decade.

"For the past 12 years, StatBroadcast has been the leading name in the NCAA for delivering real-time statistics during athletic events to not only media, staff and broadcasters, but also for fans. We're excited to be able to take this next step and use our platform to deliver the same information to the participating teams' coaching staff in real-time," said StatBroadcast president Nate Policar. "Access to robust statistics in real-time can help inform coaching decisions and allow teams to make in-game adjustments using the most accurate and up-to-date information possible. This represents an important step in the evolution of the game at the NCAA level."

The MAAC will be rolling out the program conference-wide to all 11 of its member institutions for both men's and women's basketball as well as at both its conference tournaments in March 2020. Testing will begin this month with full implementation of the program set to begin at the start of MAAC conference play, which begins in mid-December.
